Peter O' Byrne

Peter O’Byrne is a self-taught orchidologist and photographer who has lived in Africa and Papua New Guinea for 15 years, and in Singapore for more than 20 years, on teaching assignments. He is author of Lowland Orchids of Papua New Guinea (1994), A to Z of South East Asian Orchid Species, Volumes 1 and 2 (2001, 2011) and has previously joined Jaap Vermeulen in tackling Sulawesi Bulbophyllum. Now retired and based in Sabah, he illustrates and describes a seemingly endless stream of new orchid species from the Malesian area, and continues to revise several difficult groups of orchids at any one time.
